University rankings

Prof. Hüseyin R. Hızıroğlu from Kettering University (Michigan – USA) mentioned about world’s top 500 universities and the Turkish universities in an interview.

Prof. Hızıroğlu said that various criteria are used in classifying and ranking the universities. He explained current ranking in Turkey is based on a Chinese company’s criteria. Cited company’s criteria are not satisfactory to decide the top universities, added Prof. Hızıroğlu. He underlined all the functions of the university should be considered in deciding the criteria for the choice of top universities. Altough the Turkish universities such as METU (Middle East Technical University), BU (Boğaziçi University) and ITU (İstanbul Technical University) are not included the top 500 universities of the world, mentioned universities have a better ranking than many universities, emphasized Prof. Hızıroğlu.

Prof. Hızıroğlu said his views on International Congress of Hydrogen Energy, which is held in İstanbul. Many worldwide experts participated and presented papers to the congress and both the congress and trade show was a success, Prof. Hızıroğlu added.
